We here at Gouda-Geo like to stay on top of things, and lately we have developed in close cooperation with Dutch CPT company Inpijn-Blokpoel a brand-new compact size CPT penetrometer pushing rig. This rig has been developed specifically for CPT tests ordered by the Dutch water boards (Hoogheemraadschappen). It will therefor mostly be utilized on dikes, levees and seawalls. The result of our joint efforts? The brand-new 200 kN Centaur.
Weighing just 4100 kg this CPT rig features the latest CPT technologies. It has a hydraulic push-and-pull clamp, wireless remote control and 4 telescopic anchors at all 4 corners with their own dedicated anchoring motor. The CPT penetrometer pusher itself is located in the center of gravity of the machine, allowing it to push up to 40 kN without the use of ground anchors. When more pushing force is required the new Centaur can deploy it’s telescopic anchors and the maximum pushing force can be increased to even 200 kN. It also has an integrated catching clamp preventing the string of tubes to drop in the CPT hole whilst retrieving.
For more stability when maneuvering through difficult terrains the rig is provided with an extendable crawler undercarriage.
Apart from above features we’ve put great care and thought in the lay-out of this rig. The efficient design allows for plenty of workspace as well as easy access to the most important areas of the machine.
Needless to say, we and Inpijn-Blokpoel are quite pleased with the result.
