The mud wiper is specially designed to wipe off effectively the dirt of the CPT sounding tubes when retracting them out of the ground. It is made of stainless steel, so no corrosion and it is easy to clean.
It comes with 2 reinforced rubber rings with a inner diameter of 35 mm and a thickness of 6 mm. The rubber rings are extremely rugged guaranteeing a long live even under rough circumstances.
Spacers between the rubber rings create an open construction, so wiped off dirt will not accumulate inside and can exit the wiper quite easily. Because of its design, it is really quite easy to take the mud wiper apart, to clean it and to replace rubber wiper rings if required.
It is intended for aboveground use and is to be mounted directly on the bottom end of the guidance tube or its extension tube just above ground level. The rubber mud wiper rings can be ordered separately.
